# How to Brew the Perfect Pour Over

The pour over is one of the simplest and most rewarding ways to brew coffee. With just a few pieces of equipment and a little practice, you can produce a clean, flavourful cup that highlights the unique characteristics of your beans.

## What You Need

- Pour over dripper (we recommend the Hario V60)
- Paper filter
- Freshly ground coffee (medium-fine)
- Gooseneck kettle
- Scales and timer

## The Method

**Ratio:** 15g coffee to 250ml water

**Water temperature:** 92-96°C

**Total brew time:** 2:30 – 3:00 minutes

1. Rinse your filter with hot water to remove any papery taste
2. Add your ground coffee and create a small well in the centre
3. Start your timer and pour 30ml of water in a circular motion — this is the bloom. Wait 30 seconds.
4. Pour the remaining water slowly in concentric circles, keeping the water level consistent
5. Let it drain completely and serve immediately

## Tips for Success

Grind size is everything. Too fine and your brew will be bitter and slow. Too coarse and it will taste weak and sour. Aim for a consistency similar to table salt.
