Sustainability
Good coffee should be good for the planet and the people who grow it
Direct Trade Relationships
We source our green coffee directly from farmers and cooperatives in Colombia, Ethiopia, Brazil, Guatemala, and Kenya. By cutting out middlemen, we ensure farmers receive fair prices, typically 40-60% above commodity market rates.
We sign multi-year purchase agreements, giving farmers financial security to invest in their operations, pay fair wages, and plan for the future.
Eco-Friendly Packaging
All our retail bags are fully compostable, made from plant-based materials with a one-way degassing valve. They can go straight into your home compost bin or council food waste collection.
Our shipping boxes are made from 100% recycled cardboard, and we use paper tape instead of plastic. No plastic anywhere in our supply chain.
Carbon Neutral Roasting
Our Shoreditch roastery runs on 100% renewable energy. We have invested in energy-efficient roasting equipment and heat recovery systems to minimise our energy consumption.
For any remaining emissions, we partner with verified carbon offset projects in the coffee-growing regions we source from, creating a positive feedback loop.
The Roastair Foundation
1% of every sale goes to our Roastair Foundation, which funds projects in the communities where our coffee is grown. So far we have funded:
- 3 clean water wells in Huila, Colombia
- School building programme in Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia
- Reforestation project in Mogiana, Brazil
- Women in Coffee scholarship programme in Guatemala
Our Pledge
By 2028, we aim to be fully circular: zero waste to landfill, 100% renewable across our entire supply chain, and every farmer partner earning a living income. Coffee should leave the world better than it found it.
